 Marriage

In July of 1967, I married Tom Harper, formerly of Allegheny and Delta Tau Delta, who was an Electronic Warfare Officer in the US Air Force.  We lived in Sacramento California (close to Mather AFB) and on base at Ellsworth AFB in Rapid City, South Dakota.  He had 6 month tours to Vietnam, and we divorced in 1970.  We remain friends, and last saw each other at the Allegheny 200th year celebration.

I think I was married to my career.  Then in 2011, in Williamsburg VA, I met Neil Hanlon at a church singles event.  We made a lifelong covenant in April of 2015, in front of God and witnesses, in a 300 year old church, in a ceremony presided by a member of the ordained clergy of the Episcopal Church.  If you had attended, and were not paying strict attention, you would have said it was a lovey wedding.

Where I’ve lived

My jobs

Developer Jobs:  Programmer / Systems Analyst and Project Manager.  Sales Jobs:  Technical Sales, relationship sales, product sales, and staff jobs at IBM with a short stint at Microsoft.  In 1975, I was one of the first women to have a sales job in IBM and I was selling mainframe computers.  I told the customer I was his Marketing Rep (that was the job’s title), and tried to explain I was taking over from his last rep, and would do the same activities.  When he continued to be puzzled, I finally said:  “I am your salesman.”  Then he got it.  One of my best and worst jobs at IBM was World Wide Sales Executive for WebSphere Commerce Suite.  Great job, but the jet lag was terrible.  My second happiest day was the day I got the job, my happiest day was the day I got ANOTHER job.  Currently developing my own business as an IBM Business Partner, to sell IBM Predictive Analytics.
